Picture of the Market Place at Cradock, 1928-06-22
You can see the typical transport of the country. They use either donkeys or oxen. The Church is called St Martins in the Field, and is an exact copy. It was built in 1866 but the stone is still perfectly white.

200 x 142 mm. Showing the Town Hall, in Renaissance style, standing at the junction of Church Street and Commercial Road. Opened in 1901 by the Duke of Cornwall and York (later George V) during his visit to the city, the building replaced the previous Town Hall, destroyed by fire in 1898.

Pondo girl, Libode, Pondoland [Eastern Cape], 1947
'Blue and white is the beadwork of Pondoland and red ochre the colour of everyday wear. Unmarried girls do not wear the ceremonial white, nor do they attend parties, celebrations, beer drinks. The bead head band of this typical design is usually worn by girls and boys of courting age, and may be interchanged as tokens of affection. The exchange of love tokens is a popular Pondo custom. Scarification of the face in the manner illustrated, is also customary.'
