The majority show the garden, from scenes in April 1967 to seven transparencies making up a panorama taken on the eve of departure in March 1970. In between these are extensive views both of individual clumps of flowers and more general scenes.

The majority of these were taken in the north of the province; at Magoebaskoof (two visits); Tzaneen (including a sequence showing sisal growing and processing); Vendaland in the extreme north and a few coming south to Orhigstad and Graskop. A group taken at Mala Mala camp is assumed to be in the Transvaal, though the precise location has not been found. The section concludes with a visit to a fishing lodge at Dulstroom in December 1969.

A crowd of people can be seen standing outside the church and walking or riding bicycles along the street. The foundation stones for this building and of another church were both laid by General Botha (this church in May 1903), the funds for their construction being paid for by the sale of Church Square to the Government.

The principal part of the collection is a set of thirteen scrapbooks of newscuttings relating to East Africa, particularly Kenya and Tanganyika. The rest of the collection consists of a volume of cuttings relating to post-war trading opportunities in Nigeria and three scrapbooks concerning rubber and mining in South East Asia.

Four volumes of newscuttings, three relating to Southern and East Africa and one to the Native Question in South Africa, and loose cuttings on related subjects. Many of the articles concern the activities of the colonial powers in Africa, notably Great Britain, Germany, Spain and France.

Sixty original watercolours (280 x 380 mm). Original titles and captions have been recorded as found and may contain offensive, inappropriate or outdated terms. They have been retained to reflect the context of the collection's creation.

Clarke, commanding the company, is seated at the right in the front row. The conscripted men of the Pretoria Rifles as a whole totalled 400 under the overall command of Col. Le Mesurier.

Contains loose prints, some mounted, of events outside Malay but relating to it - visits of Malayan notables to the U.K., trade exhibitions, gatherings of the British Association of Malaysia and other events.
