Scope and Contents
Seventy-nine pages of newscuttings from 'The Beira News and East Coast Chronicle' concerning East Africa, particularly its industry and commerce. The principal topics are the maize market, Zambesi coalfields, the political and economic future of Rhodesia, including the role of the British South Africa Company in the region, Nyasaland tobacco, and the development of ports and railways, notably at Beira and in Rhodesia. Other countries featured in the scrapbook include the Belgian Congo, Mozambique, Nigeria, Ruanda, South Africa, Tanganyika and Uganda. There is an index at the front of the volume. The second half of the scrapbook is mainly blank.
