'Forming into column on the march in Zululand from a mid-day outspan', 1878
The caption reads, 'On the left is the Swazi contingent of 1,000 warriors and the six guns of the Royal Artillery to take their position in line of march. The 90th Regiment is in advance before the baggage train supported in the rear by the 13th Regiment, Frontier Light Horse and fifty Boers, which are not shown in the sketch'.

Several feet of topsoil have been removed near the stream bank and the underlying boulders exposed. The wooden sluices for separating gold from earth can be seen beside the water.
