189 x 142 mm. A view looking along a valley with a small stream, with diggers searching for alluvial gold in the foreground. Several feet of topsoil have been removed near the stream bank and the underlying boulders exposed. The wooden sluices for separating gold from earth can be seen beside the water.

Contains slides including a group of seven interiors of Marnham's house taken in August 1968, three showing servants in February 1968 and one of the visit of the Mayor for the celebration of the Queen's birthday on 20 April 1968. The majority show the garden, from scenes in April 1967 to seven transparencies making up a panorama taken on the eve of departure in March 1970. In between these are extensive views both of individual clumps of flowers and more general scenes.

Scope and Contents '"White" is gala wear in Pondoland. Originally, white was a token of mourning, but after a long period in mourning for a chief it became the custom for gala wear. Modern use of "Reckitt's" blue produces "white" garments of many blue shades. The Pondo insists that these garments are ‘white’.
