Scope and Contents
191 x 195 mm. A view looking up the grassy slope towards the small stone Fort Tullichewan, named after the paternal residence in Scotland of Mrs. Gildea, the Garrison Commandant’s wife. Lookouts and heliographers can be seen silhouetted against the skyline next to the stone blockhouse, while Lieut D’aeth is seated on a chair outside the perimeter stockade of brushwood in the foreground. Fort Tullichewan was situated on the same range of hills to the south of the town as Fort Commeline (see Y3055A/9).
