Scope and Contents 132 x 177 mm. Showing two Zulu warriors dressed in war regalia and armed with shields and assegais. The two men, the one on the left wearing the 'isicoco' or circular headring denoting a married man, the younger one wearing feathered plumes, are members of a 'black' or relatively inexperienced regiment: this is denoted by their shields which are black with a white latticework supporting structure. As the regiment increased in war service so the shields became progressively whiter, until...
