176 x 129 mm. A view of this massive building which stands at the corner of Swanston Street and Collins Street. The foundation stone of the building was laid by the Duke of Edinburgh in 1867, and the building completed around 1870.

198 x 148 mm. A view looking down Sturt Street, with two men, one holding a bicycle, in the foreground, and the Town Hall at the right of the picture on the other side of the road. This building, with a rather ponderous clock-tower, was designed by C.O. Cuthbert and built between 1870 and 1872.

On the corner of the street in front is a suitably elaborate drinking fountain. Designed by J.H. Wilson, building started in 1868, the Duke of Edinburgh laying the foundation stone, and the clocktower was completed in 1875.
