Railway Station, Brisbane-from North East, 1886
260 x 205 mm. View from a hill behind the station, showing covered platform with a passenger train in the station, and a goods train just outside. Two pony cabs wait alongside the platform. The first section of railway in Queensland was from Ipswich to Bigges Camp (now Grandchester) and was opened on 31st July 1865. Brisbane, however, was not connected to the railway system until 1875.

Randwick Asylum, 1870 - 1879

The hospital, originally known as the Catherine Hayes Hospital and now named the Prince of Wales Hospital, was designed by Edmund Blacket in the mid-1860s. The large block at the left was a later addition.

A slightly blurred print showing the bridge from a point away from the river. The wooden bridge crosses two tributaries of the river, with approach spans joining the two sections of the bridge.

RCI Post-War Settlement Mission, 1915 - 1916
Archives relating to a mission to South Africa, Rhodesia, Australia, New Zealand and Canada undertaken by Sir Henry Rider Haggard on behalf of the RCI to investigate possibilities of post WWI settlement of ex-servicemen. Haggard's report was published as 'The After-War Settlement & Employment of Ex-Service Men in the Overseas Dominions' in 1916.

A collection of lantern slides of Australia (plus one duplicate). 5-10 are marked 'Commonwealth of Australia' and have serial numbers. 12-22 are marked 'Department of Agriculture and Stock, Brisbane'. The slides' captions have been used as titles and have been recorded as found.
