Aldgate Railway Station, Adelaide and Melbourne Railway, 1890
260 x 200 mm. A view from the railway track towards the station, with the stationmaster and others on the platform, and a passenger train drawing in to the station. Aldgate lies between Crafters and Bridgwater in the Mount Lofty Ranges and the section of the railway to Aldgate was opened in March 1883, the last 21 miles of the line costing £20, 500 per mile to construct.
Alfred Hospital, 1870 - 1880
183 x 129 mm. A view of the hospital, a brick building with white stone facings situated in Commercial Road, Prahran. The hospital, the second in Melbourne, was built as a thanksgiving to commemorate the Duke of Edinburgh’s survival of the attempted assassination in Sydney in 1868. Prince Alfred laid the foundation stone in 1869, and the building was opened in 1871.

A translation of the Dutch account, published in 1647, of the wreck of the 'Batavia' on the Abrolhos Islands and subsequent events of 1628-1629 (85 pages). Some extracts from Saville-Kent's 'A naturalist in Australia' have been added, and there are four pages of illustrations taken from the Dutch account.
