232 x 183 mm. Information given states '(New superstructure on old piers), 3 spans 75 feet each, 2 spans 60 feet, total length 345 feet'. A view showing the bridge beyond a curve in the river, with figures in front of the bridge which is a wooden superstructure on wooden supports.

235 x 185 mm. A view of the street showing numerous pony traps and a stage coach on the right. This end of the street shows the tram lines, with a horse-drawn tram at the crown of the hill. Queen Street was the first thoroughfare in Brisbane to have tramways; the work was started in January 1885 and opened for general on traffic 12th August.

The picture has been taken from the roof of one of the sheds (which can be seen at bottom of picture), and this gives an aerial sense of perspective. The date of this picture is at the height of the expansion of the sugar industry in Queensland, sugar being first manufactured near the Hastings River in 1823.
