265 x 360 mm. An exterior view of the First Church, designed by R.A. Lawson and built between 1867-1873. Generally considered one of the finest churches in New Zealand, it is built in a restrained Gothic style in Oamaru stone, with a 175 foot spire.

The interior fittings of the stack, lift and staircase are wholly of steel, its floors of thick translucent plate glass, and when the heavy fireproof door is closed the Library is considered to be absolutely fireproof.' 206 x 155 mm. A view looking down on the small collection of houses grouped near the edge of the cliff at the gap, a fissure in the cliffs situated midway between Outer South Head and Inner South Head. The cliffs at North Head can be seen in the distance on the other side of the harbour.

280 x 230 mm. A view of the building from the roof of Government House and looking south towards the Garden Palace. A cruciform building 800 ft. long, with towers at the corners and a central dome 100 ft. in diameter, which collapsed in the fire 'with a crash like a peal of thunder'.

The General Post Office, 1875
265 x 215 mm. A front view of the Post Office, with three men standing on the balcony. The Post Office was rebuilt after the second great fire in Queen Street which destroyed a whole block of shops, and was completed on 28th October 1872. This picture was probably taken shortly after completion, as the building does not seem occupied or in use.
