The Long Tunnel Mine, Walhalla, 1885 - 1901
199 x 146 mm. A view looking down on the mine, with workings extending into the hillside behind. The Long Tunnel Mine opened in 1865 and proved to be the most productive of Victorian mines: over 815,000 oz. of gold were recovered in the 50 years of its existence.

The Melbourne Hospital, 1870 - 1880
194 x 127 mm. A view from the roof of a nearby building looking over Lonsdale Street to the complex of hospital buildings. The first hospital opened on this site in 1848 had only 22 beds and further buildings were added in the following years. The whole hospital was rebuilt in 1910.
