Banda I: - Off New Guinea - Volcano, 1910 - 1915
An interesting view showing Banda Islanders in long war canoes with decorated prows with the volcano rising from the shore beyond. The island seen here is Gunung Api, one of the smaller islands of the Banda group which lies about 50 miles south of Seram.

A series of coloured photographs of exhibitions marking a Chemistry link between Birkbeck College, London (Professor R. Shaw) and Bangladesh (Professor Murthy). Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology was established as the East Pakistan University of Engineering and Technology in 1961. The name change took place in 1972, the year after independence from Pakistan was declared. Photographer unknown.

The Rawang Swamp, between Rawang and Serendah and extending 1/2 mile in breadth was the major obstacle to this 4.66 mile section of line which was opened for traffic a year behind schedule in 1893.
