On the taller, known as a Belawing, the heads of enemies are hung temporarily; on the shorter, pieces of dried human flesh have been fastened by means of skewers, as offerings to the omen birds in this case, hawks. Showing the poles in the foreground, with houses raised on stilts beyond.
Sadat Ali Shah's Mausoleum, first King of Oude, 1880 - 1889
281x225mm. Showing the entrance to the mausoleum, an archway surmounted by two lions and flanked by small domed gatehouses. The dome of the tomb can be seen in the distance. There appears to be some confusion in the title: this view is presumably taken from Neill Road and shows the tomb of Saadat Ali Khan (reigned 1798-1814). The first king of Oudh, Saadat Khan (reigned 1732-39) died and was buried at Delhi.

Saint George des Latins
207 x 156 mm. A view showing part of a ruined church, possibly that mentioned by Di Cesnola: 'South-east of the town [Kyrenia], about an hour's ride from it, and midway up the mountains, stands an imposing Medieval ruin, called 'Lapais'. It was an abbey, built by King Hugh III, and belonged to the Latin Church, but was destroyed by the Turks when they captured the fortress of Cerynia' (Cesnola 1877, p. 237).
