Scope and Contents Quarter-plate (landscape format). This was about 35 miles long, bringing water to Salamis from Cythera in the nothern range of hills. Note Church of St. Barnabas in distance, near which is said to have been found the body of St. Barnabas, buried clasping the M.S.S. of one of the gospels. This relic, being taken to Constantinople at the time by the archbishop, obtained the independence of the Church and various privileges from the Emperor Zeno. Scope and Contents 157 x 111 mm (mounted on card). The print is accompanied by handwritten identifications of several of the figures, but these include several errors. The most import of these appears to be the identification of the figure behind Egerton as Gaston Augustus Ives BOSANQUET, A.D.C to Swettenham. Bosanquet was in fact Private Secretary to Swettenham and is more likely to be the figure to the right of George Cumming. A.D.C. to Swettenham from 1900-1903 was Captain Frederic Delmar BARRY and...
