Horse drawn trams, introduced abortively in Calcutta in 1873 and on a permanent basis from 1880, can be seen in the roadway, (Massey p.85).

Muara (also known as Brooketon) is situated some 13 miles east of Brunei Tarn and was a centre for coal mining by the British North Borneo Company until 1925.
