322 x 191 mm. View of the monumental statue of the bull Nandi in the temple courtyard at Tanjore. Carved from a single stab of granite and measuring 16 feet long by 12 feet high, the image is enclosed beneath a flat roof supported by pillars and stands between the gateway into the courtyard and the temple entrance itself. 237x268mm. View of the Gwalior Monument which stands beside the River Hooghly on Strand Road west of Fort William. The memorial was erected by the Earl of Ellenborough (Governor-General 1842-44) in 1847 in memory of those who died during the Gwalior Campaign of 1843. The structure, which was designed by Colonel Goodwyn of the Bengal Engineers, is built in Saracenic style of brick faced with Jeypore marble and is surmounted by a metal cupola supported on columns cast from captured enemy guns....

297 x 242 mm. Showing the massive stone figures carved from the rock face of the Urwahi Ravine of the W side of Gwalior ridge. These rock sculptures were made in the 15th century, mutilated on the orders of the Emperor Babar some sixty years later and subsequently repaired with coloured stucco by the Jains. Bourne no. 1328A.
