40 x 62 mm. Yela - the senior wife of the Fon. She was his first wife and has fallen into a little disgrace as she is rather free with her talk and says things that are considered 'risque'. Fon's wives are not supposed to think of risque things and far less say them. They are supposed to be dignified, servile, and have no feelings at all.

The majority of these were taken in the north of the province; at Magoebaskoof (two visits); Tzaneen (including a sequence showing sisal growing and processing); Vendaland in the extreme north and a few coming south to Orhigstad and Graskop. A group taken at Mala Mala camp is assumed to be in the Transvaal, though the precise location has not been found. The section concludes with a visit to a fishing lodge at Dulstroom in December 1969.

Collection of prints inserted in a bound copy of the Rhodesia-Nyasaland Royal Commission Report (Cmd. 5949) 1939. Written on the title page is 'Illustrated with the Chairman's snapshot photographs.' Plate 1 is inside the front cover; the remainder are in pairs on sheets of paper bound into the volume at intervals.
