Sudanese diary, 1915-02-12 - 1915-10-26
The diary (300 pages) records regional sleeping sickness inspection tours and the mapping of the Nile-Congo boundary for the Sudanese Government. It includes considerable zoological notes, and descriptions of the terrain, missionary stations, and the African peoples that Christy encountered. In many entries, Christy has underlined key words in the text or written summaries in the margins.

299 x 239 mm. A view showing Egyptian labourers at work shifting earth with horse drawn railway trolleys under the supervision of an European overseer. In the background can be seen the funnels of numerous large steamers, and it seems likely that this is Port Ismailia, where Henry Williamson worked as a canal constructor after work had finished on the Aswan Dam. Y3041B/38 may also have been taken in this area.
