144 x 194 mm. A full length portrait of Seyyid Ali bin Said, seated on a throne against a backdrop of a carpet. Seyyid Ali bin Said, the last of the sons of Seyyid Said to sit on the Zanzibar throne, was Sultan from 1890-1893. The British Pretectorate over Zanzibar and Pemba was declared at the beginning of his reign.
