View looking along the unsurfaced street lined with small single storey houses which ran parallel to the harbour frontage between the Praça Azeredo Gardens and the Praça Mousinho D’Albuquerque. A note on the mount reads ‘as it was in 1895 now entirely different with large buildings erected'. The absence of any signature on the print makes it possible that the photograph was indeed taken around this time before the Lazarus Brothers had set up their business. The only two...
