Measuring 175 x 215 mm, this album contains sepia photographs 170 x 115 mm in size. Album spaces 65 and 74 are blank. There are no captions, but some photographs can be identified as Tunis by comparison with postcards in Y304H. Others may be mentioned in the 1922 North Africa Diary (see Introduction), e.g. the Cathedral (p.7/plate 57), Carthage (pp.12ff/plate 59ff), camels (p.66/plates 83, 84), and Porte de France (p.78/plates 49-50), but no detailed research has been attempted.

This film (part one of a two-part film) records the Royal party leaving Buckingham Palace on January 31st 1947 to cheering crowds and boarding a train at Waterloo Station for Portsmouth. It records the Royal party boarding HMS Vanguard, entertainment on deck during the voyage, and their arrival at Cape Town on February 17th 1947.

This film (second part of a two-part film) records the Royal Party's visit to Kenilworth Racecourse, near Cape Town, the opening by the King of the Ninth Union Parliament, and the Royal Party's visit to Port Elizabeth. It closes with a brief African dancing scene.

Contains slides including a group of seven interiors of Marnham's house taken in August 1968, three showing servants in February 1968 and one of the visit of the Mayor for the celebration of the Queen's birthday on 20 April 1968. The majority show the garden, from scenes in April 1967 to seven transparencies making up a panorama taken on the eve of departure in March 1970. In between these are extensive views both of individual clumps of flowers and more general scenes.

Fingo girl, Peddie, Ciskei [Eastern Cape], 1948
'A Fingo girl when in the presence of men, must keep her torso covered. Girls of the Peddie area, where a large location of Fingos is situated, wear white for blankets, shoulder drapings and skirts. These give place to red ochred dress when marriageable age is reached. White skirts are short, being decorated with the usual braid, buttons, white beads and fur. Turbans are cleverly wound together in spectacular manner, with beads and bells to brighten the effect.'
