Cloves which are to be transhipped are covered with a gunny cover over the ordinary matting bag. When ships are in harbour and several thousand bales of cloves are to be shipped the wharf is a hive of bustling activity.'

Guggisberg stated: 'The open-air painting of Abbontiakoon, with its variety of greens, the winding track of the Government Railway to Coomassie in the foreground and the distant blue hills, give a characteristic scene in the mining district' (Guggisberg, Gold Coast News, no. 25).

Showing Jackson crouching gun in hand next to the dead buffalo. This photograph is not mentioned in Gedge’s diary, but on January 20th both he and Jackson shot bull buffaloes, and the background scenery of the photograph resembles that seen in Y30468K/60. The following day Gedge’s diary records that he was ‘busy skinning birds and washing photos’; these are probably the pictures referred to. See also LS/23. A duplicate of Y30468K/61.
