Scope and Contents An album recording the visit of Lord and Lady Hewart to South Africa. The album is inscribed 'To Lord and Lady Hewart: A Momento [sic] of a Trip to South Africa'. It was presumably the work and gift of a friend who travelled with them as it covers the entire journey from leaving Southampton to their return. The photographs are amateur work and are fully described in captions written in white ink, not always easily legible, on the black pages of the album. The captions have been recorded...

A scene showing a small beach on the right and headland stretching out to left. The caption on the face of the print reads: 'This is a view of a section of the south shore which is broken by craggy headlands and small sandy beaches...'. Both the typed caption, and the reverse of the print (handwritten in pencil) have the reference 'B104'. The print is also stamped by the Bermuda News Bureau, with the photographers name written in pencil.
