Napoleon's Tomb, St Helena, 1884-01-16 - 1884-01-22
139 x 211 mm. Showing the tombstone, surrounded by metal railings, in Sane Valley (also known as Geranium Valley) where there was a spring from which Napoleon ordered his drinking water to be collected. Hiscorpse was placed in four coffins, one of tin, one of mahogany, one of lead and another of mahogany with the result that when the body was removed for reburial in France in 1840 it was in almost perfect condition.
