[Ernest Gedge, England], 1890 - 1899
190 x 240 mm. A full length portrait of Gedge in safari clothes with a rifle in one hand. This is a studio portrait taken against a painted backdrop with props such as a tree trunk and branches in the foreground. From the heaviness of Gedge’s beard and the obviously old state of his clothes, it is likely that the photograph was taken shortly after one of his several African journeys of the 1890s.
