This collection comprises personal papers found among the papers of R. E. Macpherson, associated with him through his Bursarial office. They include sketches by Duncan Grant, personal papers of John Tresidder Sheppard, and notes by John Maynard Keynes.

Jenkinson, from which the present manuscript was taken; (fo. 1v) title-page; (fo. 2) text. Inside front cover is the bookplate of the Earl of Westmorland, 1856.

The volume is commenced at both ends, and contains recipes, chiefly medical, a few verses in English, and a Latin oration in praise of Greek letters.

Rough notes on mathematical, optical and astronomical problems, largely in the period 1777-1783, including a table of errors for an eye-glass. There are a number of poems and epigrams penned by Maskelyne whilst at Cambridge during 1750-1757, written in English and Latin, with versions of the 18th, 23rd, 29th and 84th Psalms and a translation of Sophocles. There is also a bill for food from H. Storey, 1810, and an etching. Some pages of manuscript have been cut from the volume.

The ode forms part of an invitation from Mr and Mrs Roberts to Dr and Mrs Peckard, addressed simply to 'Revd Dr [Peter] Peckard [Master of Magdalene College, Cambridge]'. It is entitled H F Cary ('not 16'): 'Ode'. It begins: 'Mark, where yon lucid stream / Beneath the moons pale beam ...'; ends: 'The fate of hopeless love / Nor fears like me, to terminate its woes.'
