Conditions Governing Access
The University Archives are generally freely available to the holder of a reader's ticket for the Manuscripts Reading Room at Cambridge University Library, West Road, Cambridge CB3 9DR. Restrictions on access are imposed on certain categories of sensitive record: financial, governmental and personal, by order of the originating body or under data protection legislation. Biographical / Historical
Established as the Board of Research Studies in 1920 in the wake of the introduction of the Ph.D., its name changed to the Board of Graduate Studies in 1966. The Board exists to i) admit graduate students and oversee their academic progress and ii) approve the award of degrees in respect of graduate study or contribution to learning.
