Copies and extracts of correspondence (including telegrams) between Matheson & Co. Ltd, London, Jardine Matheson, Hong Kong, and Jardine Matheson, Shanghai, regarding the Eastern property of Sir John William Buchanan-Jardine, 1 February 1929-29 November 1941. The correspondents include B.D.F. Beith, London and Shanghai, D.G.M. Bernard, London, W.J. Keswick, Shanghai, D.F. Landale, Hong Kong, D.L. Newbigging, Shanghai, J.J. Paterson, Hong Kong, F.A. Pollock, Shanghai, A.B. Stewart, London, and J.C. Taylor, Hong Kong.

1. Statements of the book value and estimated value of the lease and non-lease of Jardine properties in China and Hong Kong, enclosed with a letter from J.J. Paterson to W.J. Keswick, 22 April 1937.

2. A statement of the values and other information regarding the Jardine properties in Shanghai, Hankow, Kiukiang, Tientsin and Chinkiang, enclosed with a letter from W.J. Keswick to J.J. Paterson, 10 June 1937.

3. A statement of the income from Sir J.W.B. Jardine's properties in China, Hong Kong, Japan and Taipei during 1936-1937, dated Hong Kong, 24 December 1937.

4. Notes on the income from Jardine, Matheson & Co.'s properties in China, Hong Kong and Taipei during 1936-1937, dated Hong Kong, 28 December 1937.

1. A letter from G.L. Allardyce, J.C. & A. Steuart, W.S., Edinburgh, to D.G.M. Bernard, London, 21 June 1930, regarding the renewal of the management agreement for the late Sir R.W.B. Jardine's properties in Hong Kong and China, with the following enclosures:

a) A draft of the agreement between Sir Robert and Jardine Matheson, Hong Kong, for the latter to be the Managers and Agents of Jardine's Eastern properties, including a schedule of the properties, 1925.

b) A copy of the final agreement, 13 February 1925.

c) A copy of a letter from Sir R.W.B. Jardine, Lockerbie, to Jardine Matheson, Hong Kong, regarding the agreement, 13 February 1925.

d) Two copies of an extract of a letter from Allardyce to Mr Landale, 5 July 1927.

2. Statements of property valuations for the years 1937-1938, 1938-1939 and 1939-1940 for the properties of Sir J.W.B. Jardine transferred from the Hongkong & China Property Co. Ltd and for the Estate of Sir R.W.B. Jardine, dated Hong Kong, 14 July 1937, 31 December 1938 and 29 April 1940.

3. A second copy of the statement of the valuations of sold property of Hankow Lots 43/47 B.C. - Castlemilk, dated Hong Kong, 26 April 1940.

4. Two plans of Jardine, Matheson & Co.'s proposed godown at Marine Lot 52, Hong Kong, originally enclosed with property letter no. P.616 from D.F. Landale, Hong Kong, to B.D.F. Beith, London, 1 February 1940.

6. A sheet of tables of the estimated values and book values of properties of Jardine, Matheson & Co. Ltd and Sir J.W.B. Jardine and family, undated.

The subjects covered in the file include Avenue Joffre properties, Block A, Bubbling Well Road property, Ewo Lodge, Ewo Stables, Marine Lot 99 and property leases. The folder is labelled 'Property Sir John W. Buchanan-Jardine Bt'.
