Scope and Contents

Correspondence between B.D.F. Beith and D.G.M. Bernard, Matheson & Co. Ltd, and John Bell-Irving, Lockerbie (mainly) and Tours; McJerrow & Stevenson, solicitors, Lockerbie; and Jardine Matheson, Hong Kong, regarding the Whitehill Trust, established by Major John Bell-Irving as an Education Trust for his children, Mary and John Bell-Irving.

There are also two letters from Jardine Matheson, Hong Kong, to John Bell-Irving, Lockerbie, 29 May 1941, enclosing the following items:

1. The account current of the Whitehill Trust Fund with Jardine, Matheson & Co. Ltd for the year ended 30 April 1941, dated Hong Kong, 1 May 1941.

2. Two forms of confirmation from Jardine Matheson, Hong Kong, to John Bell-Irving for him to return acknowledging the receipt of statements of his account and that of the Whitehill Trust Fund to 30 April 1941.

3. A letter from Jardine Matheson, Hong Kong, to McJerrow & Stevenson, Lockerbie, 29 May 1941, regarding the Whitehill Trust Fund.

4. A statement of the account current of the Whitehill Trust Fund with the Hongkong & Shanghai Banking Corporation for the year ended 30 April 1941, dated Hong Kong, 1 May 1941.

5. A statement of securities held by Jardine, Matheson & Co. Ltd on account of the Whitehill Trust Fund on 30 April 1941 (2 copies).

6. The capital account, revenue account and interest account of Major John Bell-Irving in account current with Jardine Matheson, Hong Kong, for the year ended 30 April 1941, dated 1 May 1941.

7. A statement of securities held by Jardine, Matheson & Co. Ltd on account of Major John Bell-Irving on 30 April 1941 (2 copies).

The ring-binder is labelled 'Whitehill Trust'.
