Scope and Contents
Correspondence of D.G.M. Bernard, Matheson & Co. Ltd, regarding the Trust for Mrs C.G. Ross (Amy Marian Ross) and the claim on Colin George Ross's estate by the estate of his son Charles Henderson Ross (Mrs Ross's stepson), 30 August 1933-19 July 1934. Under the terms of his will, C.G. Ross left the life rent of the residue of his estate to his wife during her lifetime, with the residue to be disposed of after her death. The main correspondent is Macrae, Flett & Rennie, W.S., Edinburgh. The other correspondents are Crews & Co., London; Nicholl, Mainsty & Co., London (Agents for C.G. Ross's Trustees); and Jardine Matheson, Hong Kong. There is also some correspondence between Jardine Matheson, Hong Kong, and Nicholl, Mainsty & Co.

1. An undated typescript copy of a letter from Mrs B. Campbell, Croy Manse, to her mother 20 January 1834, giving an account of the marriage of Horatio Ross to Justine Macrae.
2. Three letters regarding the storage of heads and horns and pictures received by Henry S. King & Co. from Mrs Colin Ross: Henry S. King & Co., London, to Mrs Colin Ross, Brighton, 25 September 1912 (including a list of the pictures received), Henry S. King & Co. to Charles H. Ross, 4 October 1912, and Amy [Ross], London, to 'Charlie' (C.H. Ross), 4 October [1912] (originally loose inside the file).
3. A letter from Francis & Crookenden, London, to Matheson & Co. Ltd, London, 25 March 1920, regarding Mr and Mrs Colin Ross's Trust (originally loose inside the file).
4. Two extracts from correspondence between Matheson & Co. Ltd and Jardine Matheson, Hong Kong, 3 and 29 October 1930, regarding Mrs C.G. Ross.
6. A list of investments of the C.H. Ross Trust as at 20 September 1933 by Macrae, Flett & Rennie.
7. A case for the opinion of counsel by Macrae, Flett & Rennie regarding the Trust of the will of C.G. Ross, deceased, November 1933, and a 'Memorandum for the Trustees of the late Charles Henderson Ross as to the deceased's interest in the Estate of his father the late Colin George Ross', 1934, both enclosed with a letter from Macrae, Flett & Rennie to D.G.M. Bernard, 6 July 1934.
