Coronation service at Mbabane for H.M. King George V, 1911
Scope and Contents
208 x 155 mm. Showing the open air service held at Mbabane in celebration of the coronation of George V on June 22 1911 . At the right hand stand a row of veterans. Facing the camera is a group of wives and children standing on and in front of the veranda of a bungalow. The third side of the square is made up of a detachment of African troops. In the centre a clergyman stands next to a flag mast. Robert Thorne Coryndon (1870-1925) can be seen at the extreme left of the bungalow group. This service was held at the Government Offices: the view is northwards.

PJ. This additional information was supplied by Huw M. Jones. A companion photograph entitled 'A European Service in Court House Square, on the Coronation of King George' was published in Watts, C.C. (1922). 'Dawn in Swaziland', London. Mr Watts was probably the celebrant.
