The minutes give detailed accounts of lectures and are frequently accompanied by diagrams. The speaker meetings were often held as joint meetings with the Chemical Society (London) or the Royal Institute of Chemistry.

Biographical / Historical
The society was founded circa 1940 to raise the profile of Chemistry both within the University and beyond. It runs a programme of guest academic and industrial speakers, together with debates, workshops, visits to establishments of chemical interest and social events. The records were transferred to the University Archives from the Manuscripts Department on 8 May 2008. They had been presented by Cambridge University Chemical Society to the Manuscripts Department on 6 October 1976 and had been given the classmark Ms.Add.8086.
