The original envelope was labelled in Aelfrida Tillyard's hand: 'Letters from Mkambati etc 1944 and S. Cuthbert's to Easter 1945', though the earliest date is actually Dec 1943. They are mostly addressed from St Margaret's Hostel, St Cuthbert's Mission; also some from the Mkambati Leper Institution (Dec 1943), and some from the YWCA, E. London [South Africa] (July 1944). The file also contains copies of 'The Star in the East: A Monthly Record of the Communities of S. Mary the Virgin, S. John the Evangelist, and All Saints, in India and South Africa', Sep 1944, Sep and Dec 1945, and Jan 1946, containing reports from St Cuthbert's Mission and articles written by Alethea.
