Correspondence (chiefly copies) between C.P. Smyth and Sir H. Grubb on the Edinburgh Equatorial Telescope and a spectroscope. The letters cover the contract for the work, its construction and specification, and disagreement between the two parties as to whether the contract had been adequately fulfilled. Airy was the initial arbitrator, but W.H.M. Christie was finally appointed to resolve the controversy. There are also plans for the spectroscope.
