A letter from the Secretary to Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother expressing thanks for the honour, which is wormly accepted; also a letter from Raven to Field Marshall Smuts the Chancellor making arrangements for the day of the conferral, and another letter from 1949 with college news, and expressing the hope Smuts will visit before long.

This film (part one of a two-part film) records the Royal party leaving Buckingham Palace on January 31st 1947 to cheering crowds and boarding a train at Waterloo Station for Portsmouth. It records the Royal party boarding HMS Vanguard, entertainment on deck during the voyage, and their arrival at Cape Town on February 17th 1947.
