Biography

The Mount Trading Company Ltd, Hong Kong, was a joint investment company of Jardine, Matheson & Co. Ltd and Samuel Montagu & Co., London, established on 1 April 1947. It replaced the Mount Ltd, which had been formed by Samuel Montagu & Co. on 1 January 1947, and in which Jardine, Matheson & Co. Ltd bought a fifty percent stake. On its creation, the new company also bought the holdings of the East Point Trading Co. Ltd, Hong Kong, which had been formed on 1 January 1947 to carry out joint account operations between Jardine, Matheson & Co. Ltd and Samuel Montagu & Co.
