A view looking along the Strand towards the Sliema ferry landing stages with St. Anne's Square in the background and the Jesus of Nazareth Church and Convent on the Tigne sea front at the right of the print. Several ranks of Karrazzin (horse-drawn cabs) are standing in the foreground with their drivers seated on the pavement. Also captioned, on the reverse and in a different hand, 'The Strand, Sliema'.

300 x 240 mm. The Isoletto, or Bishop's Island, in Marsamxett Harbour, was fortified by the Knights of St John in the 1720s and 1730s, and was named after the Grand Master who paid for its construction and future maintenance.
