Steam ferry, Prai River, Penang, 1884
204 x 151 mm. Showing the raft ferry, powered by a steam engine and protected by a roof above the open sides, on the Prai River, which debouches, on the Port Wellesley mainland near Butterworth, opposite George Town. On the raft itself are two Europeans in white uniforms, two hack gharries and a number of other passengers. A photograph probably taken in 1884 on completion of improvements to the Prai ferry.
