Scope and Contents Album of photographs with a note inside the front cover 'Almost all the photographs in this album were taken by the late Thomas Kitching, Chief Surveyor, in Malaya: the Trengganu [i.e. Terengganu] groups particularly. H.P. Bryson. 3 March 1974'. From the pencilled numbering it originally contained 160 prints, but 44 have been removed, and the remainder renumbered. Most have captions and these have been recorded as found. A summary of the subjects is: 1-19 Perak circa 1926; 20-63 Trengganu...

83 x 61 mm. A view from a hillside looking down on a longhouse raised on stilts, with an atap roof curving up to pointed ends. A smaller second storey rests on top of the main structure. The Menangkabau States were the small territories between Malacca, Pahang, Johore and Selangor whose original inhabitants are supposed to have come from Menangkabau in Sumatra.

(Knight Commander of the Royal Victorian Order), ibni Almerhum Antah, Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Negri Sembilan. Muhammed (circa 1865-1933) was ruler of Negri Sembilan from 1887-1933.
