Material relating to an incident reported by C. E. Collinge during the time he commanded the Armoured Car Unit of the S.S.V.F. While on manoeuvres in Johor in mid-1941, Collinge observed a Japanese army colonel whom he believed might have been a spy. The file contains correspondence between Collinge, Hugh Bryson, W. C. S. Corry and those who might have been able to shed light on the event. It also includes two photographs from Collinge illustrating where the meeting occurred (20 sheets).

Memoir by A.R. Chancellor of his service with the colonial police in Barbados and the Straights Settlements (7 sheets), with correspondence relating to its acquisition. There is a second brief note entitled 'My two adventures with crocodiles', probably also written by Chancellor.

The file contains two photographs, the first of Chancellor as C.P.O. Malacca [Melaka], taken in 1905, and the second of a Melakan police constable in 1903.
