The man on right might be Rev Dr Pilot. William Pilot (1841-1913) was Vice Principal of Queen’s College from 1867 and Principal from 1878. He was also Superintendent of the Church of England Schools from 1875 to 1908.

Scope and Contents On the left hand side are the Methodist College and home for boarders. The former was pulled down in 1984/85, the latter much earlier. The spire behind is that of the Presbyterian Church, and the scaffolded building in the centre is the new Gower Street Methodist (now United) Church. The Anglican Cathedral is behind it. Scope and Contents An album containing mounted prints, measuring approximately 200 x 150 mm. and with handwritten captions beneath the prints. An interesting collection, it shows scenes, industries and sports in Newfoundland around the turn of the century. The majority of the photographs appear, by comparison with pictures of a known date from printed sources, to have been taken nearer the earlier date assigned to the album. Prints which fall into the later category are plates 13, 19 and 53, taken in 1910,...
