Le Reduit. Entrance, 1916
99 x 72 mm. View of the courtyard and entrance façade of Le Reduit situated six miles outside Port Louis on the way to Curepipe. First built in 1748 as an alternative residence for the governor, the house was rebuilt in 1778 and in 1868 when the top section was destroyed in a cyclone.

Leeward Islands and Mauritius, 1914 - 1919
A scrapbook album containing prints of various sizes by various photographers. The majority of the prints are captioned in Bell's hand. They relate to his period as Governor of the Leeward Islands, which ended in 1915; visits to England and South Africa; and, from plate 33 onwards, his Governorship of Mauritius, to which he was appointed in 1915.
Letters, 1918-01-18 - 1918-01-30
These letters document Bell’s service as Governor of Mauritius and include the following subjects: the course of the First World War, the need to encourage patriotism among the Mauritians, the social life of the colony, and the management of the Dominican plantations (11 sheets).
