154 x 101 mm. A view taken during an unidentified occasion at the Sultan of Trengganus palace, looking down onto the lawn in front of the building where a contingent of Malay soldiers and a military band is on parade. Groups of officials and other spectators are gathered at the edge of the lawn and in front of the palace itself.

162 x 90 mm. A formal group portrait of the officials present at the 1932 durbar held at Sri Menanti, palace of the Yang di-Petuan Besar at Seremban. The figures in the group are: [?] Al-Mutasim Billah al-Sultan ABDULLAH (d 1932); Sultan of Pahang circa 1918-1932. Brysons caption identified this figure as Sultan Ahmad, but this is surely incorrect: Sultan Ahmad (circa 1881-1938) had ruled Pahang since 1865. On his death in 1914 his son Mahmad succeeded him and he in turn was succeeded...

Memoir by A.R. Chancellor of his service with the colonial police in Barbados and the Straights Settlements (7 sheets), with correspondence relating to its acquisition. There is a second brief note entitled 'My two adventures with crocodiles', probably also written by Chancellor.
The file contains two photographs, the first of Chancellor as C.P.O. Malacca [Melaka], taken in 1905, and the second of a Melakan police constable in 1903.
