A collection of prints, measuring 115 x 100 mm, reprinted from original negatives (measuring 3½ x 2½ inches). The originals were taken by Mr. F.L. Simpson when he was handling the Tema Harbour Schedule at the Ministry of Communications and Works as an Assistant Secretary (Administrative Officer). Simpson provided the identifications and notes.

The discovery of gold at Tarkwa during the 1890s provided the stimulus for the establishment of the Gold Coast Government Railway.
