Album of mostly 80 x 54 mm prints. There is a brief list describing items 1-98, which document the trip from Southampton to South Africa, travel in South Africa, and the visit to Southern Rhodesia. Many photos do not appear in the exact numerical order given in the listing. The rest of the images are uncaptioned, but their general locations have been identified by reference to the diary RCMS 353/1.
Durban. [Central West Street], 1880 - 1889
189 x 141 mm. A view looking east along central West Street towards the Indian Ocean, with horse trams on the road, the premises of Cowey, Son and Co at the left and the Town Hall with its clocktower in the background. Erected in 1885, the building was converted into the general post office when the city hall was built in 1910.

355 x 124 mm. Two prints joined. A panoramic view looking eastwards over Durban from the Berea, the residential area on a rise to the west of the city. In the foreground are cultivated fields with the town beyond and The Bluff and the Indian Ocean in the background. The enclosed Bay of Natal can be seen at the right. An army camp can be seen at the left to the north of the Umgeni River.

188 x 141 mm. A view from the town hall looking south-east over the town towards the Bay of Natal and The Bluff. 'View from Town Hall' is also printed on the photograph itself.
Dutch Reformed Church, Pretoria, 1888
190 x 124 mm. Showing the newly completed Dutch Reformed Church in Church square, with a wagon and a span of oxen drawn up in front of the building. The church, which was inaugurated in January 1885, replaced the one which was burned down in 1882.
Dwarf Agapanthus, 1970-03
Contains slides including a group of seven interiors of Marnham's house taken in August 1968, three showing servants in February 1968 and one of the visit of the Mayor for the celebration of the Queen's birthday on 20 April 1968. The majority show the garden, from scenes in April 1967 to seven transparencies making up a panorama taken on the eve of departure in March 1970. In between these are extensive views both of individual clumps of flowers and more general scenes.

The majority of these were taken in the north of the province; at Magoebaskoof (two visits); Tzaneen (including a sequence showing sisal growing and processing); Vendaland in the extreme north and a few coming south to Orhigstad and Graskop. A group taken at Mala Mala camp is assumed to be in the Transvaal, though the precise location has not been found. The section concludes with a visit to a fishing lodge at Dulstroom in December 1969.
