A series of watercolours commissioned from the Rhodesian artist Mrs Gilbert Stephenson to be used in colouring lantern slides to illustrate the fifth handbook, A.J. Sargent, 'South Africa: seven lectures (London, 1914). Stephenson had been recommended by the British South Africa Company.

The caption reads 'Van Reenen's House in Newlands, designed by Thibault, was regarded as one of the wonders of 18th-century architecture. Two great contemporaries of Thibault were Schutte, the draughtsman, and Anreith, the sculptor'.

Vecht Laager Natal 1838, 1912
A poster-size lithograph mounted in a plastic sleeve depicting an attack on the Vecht lager. The lager was comprised of 180 wagons travelling under the leadership of Karl Pieter Landman along Bosman's River during August 1838. The picture is signed 'H. Lea 1912' in the bottom left corner. There is also a printed description of the painting in Afrikaans describing the protagonists and a postcard with a reproduction of the picture. None of the items are dated.
