Draft letter from [WSC] (Home Office) to Lord Crewe [earlier Lord Houghton, also Robert Milnes, Secretary of State for India] enclosing letters [not present] from Lord Morley [earlier Secretary of State for India] and Sir Arthur Bigge [later Lord Stamfordham, Permanent Secretary to King George V] about the possibility of Sir Edward Henry [Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police] accompanying the King to India, and saying that the decision should be made by Lord Crewe. Letter from Bhimrao Ambedkar [formerly Bhimrao Ambavadekar] (Tuscan Hotel, 67 Shaftesbury Avenue, London) to WSC thanking him for his kindness and for "the sympathy you have envinced for the cause of the untouchables". He also thanks him for his visit to [Chartwell] and requests that WSC allows some of his Indian friends, including G S Dhupia, to visit the grounds. Signed manuscript.

Upcountry woman, 1870 - 1879
An accordion fold album containing 12 albumen prints showing domestic scenes, 143 x 100 mm in size, with pencil captions beneath each image (written over fainter pencil captions). The photographer is unknown, but a similarly titled album of the same size has been credited to the French photographer Jean Baptiste Oscar Mallitte (1829-1905).

An album, labelled on the spine, containing prints of various sizes. The numbering is sequenced from 1 to 131, but 101 is omitted. 14 of these prints are loose (118-131) , and are kept in a separate envelope in the album. Some of the prints are good quality professional work. Some of the photographs are captioned in ink; in other cases the titles have been derived from duplicate copies in Davies' other Indian album or from other photographs of the same scenes.
