Stating that he was prepared to submit his evidence to the Committee of Privileges, and that he proposed to raise the matter at the close of Questions. Asking the Speaker to rule the case a Breach of Privilege [carbon].

Letter from Lord Derby, Derby House, London to WSC, on allegations of suppression of evidence of Manchester Chamber of Commerce to the Joint Select Committee on Indian Constitutional Reform. Stating that he did not alter their evidence, and that although he was in touch with his "Lancashire friends", the evidence was dealt with by a Special Committee of the Chamber of Commerce, who altered their original report, largely as a result of information from their Mission in India.

Confirming that WSC's act of handing the documents to the Committee did not deprive him of his legal rights in them, and that documents printed for a House of Commons Committee were not marked that they wee the property of H M Government, only the usual request that they should not be communicated to anyone outside the Committee.
