Mt Abu : marble scroll work in Vimala Sahs temple
Contains prints measuring approximately 210 x 160 mm mounted in an album bound in padded red leather and inscribed on the front cover VM [Victoria Mary] surmounted by a coronet. The end papers have a label 'Bourne and Shepherd : Artists, Photographers and Publishers. Calcutta, Simla and Bombay'. This album deals with architectural views (with many close-up details) of buildings in Udaipur, Jaipur, Ajmir, Chitor, Mt Abu, Lahore, Amritsar, Delhi, Agra and Fatehpur Sikri.

277 x 212 mm. View looking north-west along the Husainabad Road towards the Rumi Darwazah or Turkish Gate entrance to the Machhi Bahawan fort and palace. This massive and ponderous structure forms the western entrance to the complex. Both the Rumi Darwazah and the Imambara were started in 1784 as famine relief projects by Nawab Asaf-ud-daulla. At the left of the print is the entrance to the mosque and Imambara.

Contains prints of two main sizes, circa 295 x 210 mm and 137 x 93 mm.,the latter are indicated by (S): other sizes are noted. They are mounted on card and bound into a lavishly decorated album with metal corners, lettered on the front cover Souvenir of Gwalior 1906 and with the inscription 'With most respectful homage from Madhorao Scindia, Gwalior 1906'. The photographs, which include hunting scenes at Singhpur and Raipur and also architectural views, have printed captions.

Murdoch family: papers
The material in this collection relates mainly to Peter Murdoch (1795-1871), his position as superintendent of a penal establishment and work as a land surveyor in Australia, and to George Brown Murdoch (1836-1906) and his work on railways in India and Australia. There are also various family history notes, correspondence and genealogical papers.

Musahah [massulah] boat for conveying passengers to steamers, 1880 - 1889
284x218mm. View of a massulah boat beached beside the harbour at Madras, with the crew seated in position with their oars. The boat flies the blue ensign and has the words 'Port Boat' painted on its side. Until harbour improvements mitigated somewhat the inconvenience of landing at Madras' open roadstead, these boats were the principal vehicle for negotiating the ferocious surf and depositing travellers on the beach.
